Be Proactive About “The Black Hole of Aging”

I’ve always focused on the positive aspects of getting older. These include the opportunity to learn from past mistakes as well as being proactive about my health. These habits allow me to  look and feel my best.

Aging can be a blessing and if you think about it, one alternative to aging is death and that may not be ideal especially when we have the ability to age healthily. This is why I’ve always agreed with sayings such as “40 is the new 20.”

Being proactive about aging means eating healthily, exercising, not smoking, drinking in moderation, managing stress levels and getting routine health exams.

Another key, perhaps the most important, aspect of proactive aging is understanding that health issues can sometimes occur without symptoms. A “symptom-less” health issue can happen to anyone at any age. A recent study conducted in Australia discusses health checks people should have once they hit 40 in order to avoid having undiagnosed health issues. People 40 and older often have health issues without even knowing it, because they do not experience any symptoms.

"People in their middle years are being sucked into the black hole of ageing," said one doctor, in one report discussing the study.

"Small reversible changes in health are accumulating unnoticed while people are time poor and their lives consumed by work and parenting."

The good news is that these changes appear to be reversible, but the study shows that people 40 and older may need to be doing a better job of taking control of their health.

The study involved 561 “seemingly healthy” adults between the ages of 40 to 75.

The researchers “...found that there was an average of five unidentified health problems per person, including undiagnosed blood pressure or early hearing loss.”

Researchers tested:

What’s especially noteworthy is that the average number of health issues was five irrespective of decade of life. In other words, you can be in your 40s, 50s or 60s and still have these undiagnosed health issues.

The results revealed the following:

  • 30% of people with undiagnosed high blood pressure.
  • 32% with memory and cognition problems.
  • 34% with undiagnosed functional hearing loss.

The good news is many of these changes were reversible. To give you an idea, we previously blogged about you can lower your blood pressure in just six months.

But the key takeaway is that you have to test for these health issues at 40 and up even if you feel healthy as a horse.

Proactive Health Labs offers a variety of health tests you can take including:

It is also important to remember that the root cause of many health issues may be nutritional deficiencies and imbalances. As we age, our bodies have more difficulty absorbing the nutrients from the foods we eat. The pH Nutrition test is able to determine whether you are nutritionally balanced. And if you are not, a competent healthcare professional can work with you on making the necessary dietary changes and recommend quality supplements if necessary.

I also recommend utilizing pH IV Vitamin Drips. I utilize these cocktails on a monthly basis to address my inevitable nutrient absorption issues. They provide nutrients (and hydration) directly into the bloodstream to help boost my nutritional status as well as help with energy levels. In my opinion, relying on drips for certain nutrients as opposed to orally taking supplements results in increased absorption and effectiveness and I credit my enhanced immunity, energy and good health to these habits. Also check out our nutrient injections and pushes.

Finally, it is not only important to feel good.It is equally important to keep our skin looking as healthy and firm as possible.  In addition to physical activity, I incorporate cryo massages into my routine because they help with micro circulation and a significant increase in collagen production which makes my skin look healthy. These cryo treatments even reduce or eliminate fat which tends to accumulate around our midsections as we age.

Remember, prevention is better than cure.

Enjoy your healthy life!
